The Carillon Foundation

An essential component in Carillon’s nonprofit approach is the Carillon Foundation, a 501c3 organization separate from Carillon Inc. The Foundation’s unique mission is to accept charitable donations for the benefit of Carillon residents, family members and the citizens of West Texas. While resident fees support the annual operating costs for Carillon Inc., Carillon Foundation raises funds in order to provide the margin of excellence for care at Carillon and to benefit the larger community through support of research into healthy aging.

Foundation History

Originally named John Knox Village, the community was founded in 1975. In 1990, John Knox Village became Carillon Life Plan Community, which has blossomed into a 25-acre campus providing excellence in resident lifestyles and meaningful interactions to stay healthy and happy in retirement. The Carillon Foundation was incorporated as a supporting 501(c)(3) organization to offer donors funding choices that support the mission and quality of life for all residents. The governing nine-member Board of Trustees is comprised of three Carillon residents, three business leaders from the Lubbock community and three current Carillon Board of Directors members. These elected individuals donate their time and talent to support the efforts of the Foundation.

Prior to moving to Carillon six months ago, I had spent approximately a year and a half visiting a number of senior independent living facilities in Lubbock, and Carillon emerged as the option that best met my needs. I was impressed by the Life Care program, which includes not only independent living, but also assisted-living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation should any of these be needed. Sometimes things that look inviting to an outsider do not always live up to the expectations of the residents. However, Carillon has not only met my expectations, it has exceeded them. The staff is excellent, the food is both plentiful and good, and every day brings a wide assortment of activities from which to choose. One of my favorite things about Carillon is the sense of community among the residents, who have been extremely friendly and welcoming to me. Without a doubt, moving to Carillon was the right decision for me, and I highly recommend it to others for their consideration.

Carillon has an amazing plan to help senior adults to have dignity as they need help in their lives. Seniors have a choice in a positive environment to enjoy friends, fun and food. The exercise work out room is fully staffed and the beautiful poor is delightful. The staff is friendly and positive as they give the needed support.

I've been with Carillon for almost two years and can honestly say it's one of the best places to work. Employees and leadership are passionate about what they do and it shows. But the best part is getting to know our amazing residents!

My mother has had to have post hospital recovery twice and both times were at Carillon. The staff is very friendly and one of the best things is the physical therapy program. They work with each patient to get them to a scheduled recovery. They do a great job and keep the patient's spirits up as they progress.

I’ve been a part of this wonderful community for over 8 years and have experienced first hand how much the employees care about the residents. Best employees in town!! Special shout out to Chef and the dining department employees who tend to the daily dietary needs on campus with delicious options every single day!

I have lived at Carillon in Independent Living for 10+ years. The resident population is great. Many professional, successful and interesting adults. The staff is fantastic and really does care about the residents. You can be as active or do as little as you want. A very positive environment.
